What is 'Protective Surveillance'
Protective Surveillance is a covert method of carrying out Close Protection. It enables a principal or group to go about their daily routine without obtrusive protection, yet with the peace of mind that they are surrounded by a highly trained protective team.
This method is favoured by the British Royal family, who gives the impression that their protective detail is a lot smaller than it is. This type of method of Close Protection is useful for victims of stalking and for clients who do not wish to offend their hosts by looking overprotected.
How does 'Protective Surveillance' work?
Where a client might have two or three Close Protection officers within arms lenght and visible to passers by; with Protective Surveillance, only one bodyguard would be visible, with other bodyguards slightly further out, observing the client and any threats that may present themselves.
Protective Surveillance allows a lot more flexibility of using both male and female operatives, where if the client were for example a Middle Eastern Royal and therefore only normally has female bodyguards, male bodyguards could be put in the Close Surveillance role, bolstering the capability of the team.

In 2023, Intelligent Protection provided Protective Surveillance for a U.S. client in Dublin over a three-week period while they were involved in a court case. Given the sensitive nature of the situation, Protective Surveillance was an ideal solution. Our client was going through a prolonged and contentious divorce, and the use of overt protection could have escalated tensions with her former husband.

Yes, Intelligent Protection has a vast network of female bodyguards from around the world. Often clients with young families like to have the peace of mind that a gentle, more covert approach is being taken to their children's security. This is a role that lends itself well to female operatives.
We can provide a wide range of vehicle to suit our tasks and have a number of local partners that we work with. However, it's not just about supplying vehicles, it's more about the right vehicle and driver for the task at hand, paired-with a security trained driver.

All of our operatives are qualified to a minimum of First Person on Scene (International) (FPOSi) or First Response Emergency Care Level 3 (FREC3), British qualifications. They would also have received training during their Military or Police Service, many to a very high level.
All of our operatives carry first aid or trauma packs as standard, with larger packs in our operational vehicles.
Intelligent Protection does specialise in providing multilingual operatives, so, if you require specific languages, please inform us as early as possible.
Intelligent Protection is coved by Hiscox insurance for Employers Liability, Public Liability, Personal Indemnity and Directors and Officers Liability. Further to this, all our operatives are covered by travel Medical Insurance.
